Who We Are Ohio Hills Folk Festival

The Ohio Hills Folk Festival, in Quaker City, Ohio,  is considered the longest-running in Ohio. Its roots were planted in 1871, when a fair was started. After the fair’s demise, the event returned in 1904 and was called “Fall Entertainment,” then later “Homecoming.” It has continued ever since. 2023 will be our 119th year. It is held the 2nd week in July and has been entertaining the area population since the start. The Festival is very much alive today with many events for children and adults.  These include games, arts and crafts, bike races, kiddie tractor pull, carnival rides, all kinds of food vendors, a Veterans and Senior Citizen breakfast, flea market,kiddie parade, the famous Philip Carpenter Memorial Mile Long Parade on Friday  and a Saturday Queen’s parade that draws Queens from festivals all over Ohio. You can also enjoy  homemade ice cream at the Country Store, pie and cake baking contest, craft hall, quilt show, and art show. There will be lots  of live music from three different stages. A frog jumping contest, , rubber duck regatta AND the best fireworks show in Southeastern Ohio. The Ohio Hills Folk Festival is a 501 c3  non profit, a member of the OFEA  and is 100% volunteer personnel.

Children's Activities

The festival has many FREE activities for kids.  These include a story hour, Kiddie Parade, bike race, kids show at the music tent, homemade ice cream in a bag, frog jumping contest, kiddie pedal pull, kids crafts, pet show, art show, scavenger hunt, dunk tank and kids games.  There are also concessions and carnival rides for children of all ages to enjoy.

Arts, Crafts & Music

During the festival you can enjoy the Quilt Show at the Christian Church, the Art show, and Craft Hall  located in the firehouse.  Children can enjoy making crafts at the pavilion on Friday.  Also, visit the Country Store to see many handmade objects from past eras as well as the Rudy Bundy Ringling Brothers Circus display.  Music is a huge part of our festival and there are free performances each day on three different stages in addition to the Banjo and Fiddle contest.  Please check the schedule for dates and times of performances.

Games and Rides

The festival has concessions, games and carnival rides daily.  Please see the schedule for days and times.  Children can also take part in various activities each day.

Food and Snacks

The OHFF offers a wide variety of food options.  The Festival Kitchen serves up their delicious homemade noodles and other goodies each day in the firehouse.  The Quaker City Volunteer Firemen will be grilling up their world famous Belt Buster sandwiches each day behind the music tent.  Stop by The Country Store Museum for homemade ice cream.  The midway will offer a wide variety of concessions such as bbq, lemonade, cotton candy and much more.

Parades and More

The OHFF hosts three parades during the week.  Wednesday night is the Kiddie Parade featuring children dressed as favorite characters and floats of types.  Friday night features the famous Philip Carpenter Mile Long Parade and Saturday evening is the Queen’s Parade highlighting our OHFF Festival Queen and Queens from other festivals. 

There will also be a tractor show, tractor ride, car show, rummage sale, Bingo and much more!!  Join us for the HUGE fireworks show on Saturday at 10 p.m.

Family-friendly Environment

The Ohio Hills Folk Festival strives to create a welcoming and safe environment for everyone.  There are benches and seating provided throughout the festival area and in music venues.  Free parking is available in Walton Field.
